Stay Safe. Stay Smart. Stay Social. 🐾

Research-based from FBI, Houston PD, and law enforcement guidelines.

🎯 THE GOLDEN RULES

1. Meet in PUBLIC, Not Private

Police say: 90% of stranger dangers happen in private settings.

  • Coffee shops, parks, malls, restaurants
  • Never meet at someone's home or hotel
  • Public = Safe. Private = Risky.

2. Tell Someone Your PLANS

FBI warns: Always let a friend or family member know.

  • Share the location
  • Share the time
  • Share who you're meeting (full name if possible)
  • Check in before and after

3. Drive Yourself

Police advise: Have your own transportation.

  • Don't rely on them for a ride
  • This lets you leave anytime
  • You control when the meetup ends

4. Keep Your Info Safe

  • Don't share your address, workplace, or financial details
  • Meet in places that don't require giving up ID
  • Keep your phone, wallet secure

5. Trust Your GUT

FBI says: If something feels off, LEAVE.

  • No awkwardness is worth your safety
  • Make an excuse and go
  • You owe strangers nothing

📱 THE CHECKLIST (Do This Every Meetup)

Tell a friend where you're going
Share the address and time
Share their full name with your friend
Set a check-in time (text when you arrive & leave)
Keep your phone charged
Bring cash, not your whole wallet
Meet during DAYLIGHT hours (if possible)
Have your own transportation
Know the venue's exit routes

🚨 RED FLAGS (Leave Immediately If...)

  • They push for a private location
  • They avoid answering questions about themselves
  • They get upset if you need to leave
  • They ask for money or loans
  • They seem too good to be true (suspiciously perfect profile)
  • They pressure you to drink or do anything
  • They ignore your discomfort cues
  • They try to isolate you from others

If it feels wrong, it is wrong.

🍻 IF YOU DRINK

  • • One drink max. Stay in control.
  • • Never leave your drink unattended
  • • Watch it being made
  • • If you feel weird, stop and get help

📍 WHERE TO MEET (AND WHERE NOT TO)

✅ BEST First Meetups

  • Coffee shops (30-60 minutes max)
  • Public parks with foot traffic
  • Farmers markets
  • Bookstore cafes
  • Malls or shopping centers
  • Restaurants
  • Police-designated Safe Trade Spots

❌ SKIP These

  • Their home or hotel
  • Your home
  • Private vehicles
  • Remote parks or hiking trails
  • Overnight trips
  • Expensive dinners (creates awkward obligation)

💬 WHAT TO SAY

To your friend:

"Hey, I'm meeting someone from Kyndlo at [Place] at [Time]. I'll text you when I get there and when I leave."

Extraction phrase (for friend to call you if needed):

"I have an early meeting" (code to signal trouble)

If you need to leave:

"Great meeting you! I have to head out—my ride is here."

To the person (if uncomfortable):

"I need to step out for a sec."
